Too late to surrender
On October 1, 2017, Stephen Paddock killed 58 people and wounded almost 900, while shooting on the crowd of the Route 91 Harvest festival, taking place on the Las Vegas Strip. For 10 minutes Paddock shot from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel, using 23 automatic weapons, which he had brought into the hotel in the days before. It was a disastrous nightmare, again enforcing discussions around possession of weapons, the role of the NRA, and the weapon industry.
Retrospectively every minute of Stephen Paddock's activity in the days before the shooting was analyzed, using data of phones, bankcards, camera's etc. Have a look at the analysis here.
There is an interesting thing about this however, that is where the theme of the song Big Devil Data comes in. With all these available big data and lack of privacy, companies and authorities just know everything. So what if they would be able to do predictive modeling with all the data that they have anyway? Maybe a disaster like the Vegas one could have been prevented. Stephen Paddock's actions were clearly suspicious, but no one noticed.

The Mandalay Bay shooting will remain a very dark part of American history. Here's link to an interview with Stephen Paddock's brother on YouTube, from the days after. It is sad, yet interesting to see. (Source CBSN)

The topic of the song was chosen to maintain awareness for the victims of this tragedy. They carry this with them for the rest of their lives. This song is dedicated to them and meant to give them moral support.

Too late to surrender

It was a led rain
strafin hard
Goin round and round
Red stains break their hearts
The bodies hit the ground

Desperation runnin' wild
There’s fire in the sky
Too many triggers
Just one hand
With no reason why
All this obliteration is gonna rock the nation
No turnin' back
It’s a cryin' shame
Cause it’s too late to surrender
Too many dreams have died
Too late to surrender
Its gonna be a suicide
Sin City taken by a one-finger death machine
Rapid fire bringin' Hell
like a guillotine
All this devastation is gonna shock the nation
No turnin' back
Paradise long gone
Cause it’s too late to Surrender
Too many dreams have died
Too late to Surrender
Its gonna be a Suicide
Guitar Solo: Johannes Persson
It’s like a guillotine
It’s a one-man one-finger death machine
Desperation runnin' wild
There’s fire in the sky
Too many triggers
Just one hand
With no reason why
All this obliteration is gonna rock the nation
No turnin' back
It’s a cryin' shame
Cause it’s too late to Surrender
Too many dreams have died
too late to Surrender
It’s gonna be a suicide
Cause it’s too late to Surrender
It’s gonna be a one-way ride
too late to Surrender
Oh – It’s too late to surrender
